The past two years have been traumatic and heartbreaking, especially for those who lost loved ones because of the pandemic. As the United States approaches the horrifying mark of 1 million deaths from Covid-19, we want to memorialize those who died, by remembering and sharing some of their final words.
One devastating aspect of Covid-19 is that those with the disease often died in hospitals without family members present. They were forced to communicate with their loved ones remotely and often electronically.
As part of a memorial project, Times Opinion is asking readers to consider sharing some of these messages, whether in the form of emails, texts, videos or written notes. We’re hoping that by hearing from victims of Covid-19, in their own words, readers can both come to know them a little and get a better sense of what it’s like to lose a loved one to this pandemic.
